My Experience...

Integrative Psychotherapy/Counselling

Integrative Psychotherapy/Counselling covers a wide range of talking therapies which can help you make sense of how you are feeling and why. Therapy may be short or long term and includes talking about your lifestyle both now and in the past, relationships, patterns of behaviour and your childhood.

My experience includes working with adults and children (11+) who experience challenging circumstances in their everyday lives. I work with a wide range of mental health issues including:

  • anxiety and depression

  • low self esteem

  • bullying

  • complicated bereavement

  • self harm

  • addictions

  • disordered eating

  • trauma including PTSD

  • relationship issues

  • anger

Somatic Trauma Therapy

Trauma can have an impact both physically and psychologically and both the mind and the body remember trauma.  My training, with Babette Rothschild (psychotherapist and author), has taught me to understand the complexity of trauma and how I can help clients who experience PTSD (nightmares and flashbacks) and dissociative behaviours associated with trauma. I believe working with trauma is a specialist field and it is important that the therapist you choose has the knowledge to help with your traumatic experience, process trauma safely (where relevant) and guide you towards recovery.

Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy is a gentle form of medicine which helps people overcome illness by stimulating the immune system to help the body heal itself.  The homoeopathic conversation focusses on the client's emotional and physical wellbeing and prescriptions are based on the individual rather than a named disease.

Over the last 16 years, I have worked with hundreds of clients who are increasingly becoming more health aware. We all want to experience the benefits of good health and Homoeopathy offers a natural and effective approach to healthcare.

"Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness"

My Approach...

There are a number of ingredients which I believe contribute to the partnership between therapist and client and the most important one is the therapeutic relationship. This is the foundation of my work with a client and essential in building trust and respect. Clients may often arrive distressed or disturbed and it is the first few steps in the relationship which start to build a collaborative partnership which enables the work to happen.

Another ingredient is a flexible approach to therapy. As an Integrative therapist I am trained in a number of different modalities to suit the individual needs of my clients. We are all unique human beings and your reactions to others and the situations you face in your everyday life are also personal.  As 'one size does not fit all', one style of therapy may not be right for you and this is where we work closely together to find the therapy which works well for you.

what you said
people will forget
what you did,
but people will never forget
how you made them feel"
